Services

Management and Business Development

These are the traditional advice areas and are the mainstay of the firm.

They range from the production of interim accounts on an ad hoc basis (for the smaller clients) to active advisory participation at regular board or management meetings.

We also provide an intensive care program to help businesses through particularly difficult periods.

The firm is very cognizant of the costs of professional services and wherever possible, we try to incorporate an educational element to make clients as self sufficient as possible.

Revenue Law Planning

This is a very strong area for the firm. Good revenue law advice and corporate structuring are critical in business success and are essential ingredients in business planning. The firm has special expertise in international structuring of business interests into and out of Australia.

We cover virtually all areas of revenue law, including state revenue statutes.

Corporate Structuring

Although this normally goes hand in glove with revenue law planning, we have a special concern and emphasis on the right structure from the commercial point of view.

Prime considerations here are the suitability from the point of view of minimizing commercial risks and also the suitability for growth.

Compliance Work

Compliance work involves the meeting of the statutory requirements such preparation of formal financial statements, returns etc. If the business enterprise has good internal reporting systems and on-going planning, this compliance work is rarely more than mechanical.

Audits and Investigations

The firm undertakes a number of types of audit work. In addition to normal company audits, we do a lot of superannuation fund audits, trust account and other statutory audits.

Investigations generally involve preparation of pre-acquisition reports for business purchases or company takeovers. However, we have also undertaken a limited number of fraud related investigations in the past.

Special Projects

We now provide some special industry based packaged services. We expect to extend these to other industries over the next two years.

These special packages are tailored to the needs of the individual clients. They are intended to provide a defined fee solution to special management needs and industry oriented reporting.

In addition, we also provide a more detailed reporting service, particularly comparisons against industry standards, to other clients. This is done in conjunction with the Financial Management and Research Centre of the University of New England and from statistical reports and averages maintained by ourselves.

Commercial Litigation Support

The firm also provides a litigation support service to solicitors. This involves the preparation of independent valuations, advice, facilitation in problem resolution as well as presentation of expert evidence in litigation.

A strong area here is in the resolution of family law problems where there are significant business assets.

Financial Restructuring and Insolvency

We do not do any formal insolvency work. We network closely with firms that specialize in this area.

However, we do undertake a considerable amount of informal restructuring for companies in financial difficulties.

Financial Planning

The firm has a very strong conenction with an associated firm of financial planners of considerable experience.

Client Information Services

We provide a regular monthly newsletter as well as several special bulletins a year. The newsletters are topical and serve as the basis of low-cost information dissemination.

We also produceTaxation Information Bulletins on various procedural and policy matters. Whilst these are primarily intended for use within the office in conjunction our internal Quality Assurance Manual, they are made available to clients on request

Technical Information Bulletins are prepared specifically for clients' use on technical topics. These include topics such as the imputation system, disclosure requirements, methods of financing, minimum requirements for profit and cash flow forecast models etc.

From time to time the firm hold client information seminars. Whilst these comply with the training guarantee requirements, they are intended to discuss and highlight topics of general interests for further consideration.

We also hold tailored training courses for clients or their staff members. Most commonly these are in the use of computerized accounting packages or financial modeling using spreadsheet software
